How did the two disciples on the road describe and understand what had happened in Jerusalem concerning Jesus? 2. How does this demonstrate that they had misunderstood Jesus in light of the history of redemption? 3. How does Jesus describe himself? What does he refer to in order to give these disciples understanding? 4. What is the response of the two disciples to coming to understand Jesus according to the scriptures? 5. On Sunday, Jeremiah encourage the congregation to consider four steps to better understand Jesus according to the scriptures: 1) Get to know the details history of the scriptures, 2) Get to know the history of redemptions, particularly in light of God’s covenants, 3) Get to know the Psalms as a worshipful accompaniment and response to the history of redemption, 4) Get to know the how the prophets point to Jesus. How might you and your household use this encouragement in the coming year?
