Part 3 of the 3i | Intercede, Invest, Invite CG Questions While Paul was waiting for Timothy and Silas to join him, he saw the idolatry in Athens. What are some common idols that you see in our culture today? 2. Take a moment and pray for the following things: - That God would make us a people who really see the spiritual reality around us. - That God would give us a sincere love and burden for people. - That God would grant us boldness in Gospel proclamation. After preaching Jesus in the synagogues and marketplaces in Athens, Paul is brought to the Areopagus. There, he stood before many leaders in a culture that was was deeply idolatrous, and polytheistic. (Please Read v.22-31) 3. Identify some places where Paul appeals to and connects with the Athenians and their culture. Secondly, identify certain statements that may have been seen as particularly offensive or confrontational. (Please Read v.32-34) 4. What can we learn from these verses? 5. What are some fears or lies that you can believe when it comes to being a proclaimer? Gospel contextualization is being able to lovingly and truthfully apply the Gospel to people’s idolatry, misplaced longings, and deepest needs. 6. What aspect of the Gospel was most beautiful to you when you first repented and believed? 7. Does the idea of Gospel Contextualization change the way you intercede for, invest in, and invite the 3 people you have identified in this series?
