Romans 2:12-16 | The Work of the Law on the Hearts of Men
• Series: The Gospel in Romans
Part 18 in the sermon series "The Gospel in Romans | the power of God for salvation" 1. Recount the argument of Romans thus far: * Romans 1:18-32 - Those who practice yet approve. * Romans 2:1-5 - Those who practice yet condemn. * Romans 2:5-11 - The Lord will render according to deeds (practice). * Romans 2:12-16 - What about ignorance of the law? 2. Observe the arguments Paul makes to uphold the impartiality of God’s judgement in Romans 2:12-16. 3. On Sunday, Jeremiah mentioned seven implications of the reality that God has written the work of the law on every heart. Choose one of these implications and discuss its impact on your life and interactions in the world. * Right and wrong are fixed truths that are accessible to every human soul. * It is appropriate to expect moral behavior. * Morality does not originate from within the human soul. * Impartial judgement is an impending righteous reality. * Each one does know the truth. Appeal to this. * You have the opportunity to explain the source and origination of that moral reality. * There is a rubber banding effect to our depravity.
