Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Verse 1

Come Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free
From our fears and sins release us
Let us find our rest in Thee

Verse 2

Israel's strength and consolation
Hope of all the earth Thou art
Dear desire of every nation
Joy of every longing heart

Chorus

Born Thy people to deliver
Born a child and yet a King
Born to reign in us forever
Now Thy gracious Kingdom bring

Verse 3

By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone
By Thine all sufficient merit
Raise us to Thy glorious throne

by Charles Wesley (Kings Kaleidoscope Arrangement) - CCLI Song # 31999

Before The Throne Of God Above

Verse 1

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart

Verse 2

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.
To look on Him and pardon me.

Verse 3

Behold Him there the risen Lamb
My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I am
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!

Advent Scripture Reading

Isaiah 9:2, 6–7
2  The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.
6  For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7  Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

Prayer of Confession

Philippians 1:6
6  And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Scripture Reading

Amos 9:11–15
11  “In that day I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old,
12  that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by my name,” declares the LORD who does this.
13  “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the plowman shall overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed; the mountains shall drip sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it.
14  I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.
15  I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.

Preached Word

"The Hope Of A Kingdom Restored"

"The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part"
- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Lamentations 3:24–26
24  “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
25  The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
26  It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
Old Testament Timeline.png
Amos 4:11–12
11  “I overthrew some of you, as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were as a brand plucked out of the burning; yet you did not return to me,” declares the LORD.
12  “Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”

Amos 6:8
8  The Lord GOD has sworn by himself, declares the LORD, the God of hosts: “I abhor the pride of Jacob and hate his strongholds, and I will deliver up the city and all that is in it.”
Hosea 3:4–5
4  For the children of Israel shall dwell many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or pillar, without ephod or household gods.
5  Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and they shall come in fear to the LORD and to his goodness in the latter days.

Mark 1:14–15
14  Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God,
15  and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Revelation 21:1–3
1  Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
2  And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3  And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

The Lord's Supper

1 Corinthians 11:23–26
23  For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread,
24  and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
25  In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
26  For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

We Long For That Day

Verse 1

God will judge this world so full of evil
And bring each work of darkness into light
On that day His enemies will tremble
When The King returns in glorious might
Finally oppression will be over
Secret acts of cruelty made known
Nowhere left to hide for the abuser
Every deed laid bare before the throne

Chorus

We long for that day when Jesus comes again
When sorrow and pain will all come to an end
When justice is done and evil cast away
Oh may we all be found in Christ that day

Verse 2

On that day we’ll stand before our maker
To face our debt of sin which must be paid
There is no-one righteous none can measure
The perfect standard Christ alone displayed
But there is hope for all who trust in Jesus
For all who know forgiveness in His name
He faced the wrath deserved by ruined sinners
To save us from our anger fear and shame

Verse 3

Then as The Light descended into darkness
The Son of God forsaken on a tree
In agony our Saviour died abandoned
The innocent was crushed to set us free
But on the third day Jesus rose in glory
And now he reigns in heaven from His throne
Praise the King for such an act of mercy
One day He will come to take us home

by Sol Fenne - CCLI Song #7137568

Jesus Is Alive

Verse 1

There is now a hope that lasts beyond our days
For the One that once was buried lives again
Now the tomb is bare and empty
And the stone is rolled away
Praise the risen One who overcame the grave

Verse 2

All you brokenhearted all you worn and weak
Come find living water everlasting streams
To the wandering spirit
Lost and searching wanting something more
Find the risen King who overcomes the world

Chorus

Let there be dancing in the darkness
And let our song break through the night
Lift your voice and sing that Christ is King
For Jesus is alive

Verse 3

No more condemnation no more doubt and fear
For our sin and shame they have no power here
In His resurrection
Perfect love has set the captives free
Praise the risen King who stands in victory

Bridge

Hallelujah death is undone
Hallelujah Jesus has won
Hallelujah we overcome
Oh in Jesus oh in Jesus
