A Women's Connect Group of CPCoast

“Oil and perfume make the heart glad,
and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.”
~Proverbs 27:9
At CrossPointe Coast, the stated mission of the Women’s Discipleship ministry is, “Coming alongside women to point one another to Jesus Christ.” It’s such a short, simple statement. When I read it, I just think of one woman standing close to another and pointing up. “Look at Jesus!” the one says to the other. The reply comes quickly, “How?” The first friend points down into a Book and says, “Look here,” and then gestures to the second, “Come with me, and let’s look at Him together.”
In theory, it’s simple. We need Jesus. We forget we need Jesus. We forget about the common means of grace God has given us to see Jesus. We remind one another of these means and walk together in the common grace of Christian friendship, discipling one another and being discipled by the Master.
Why does it rarely feel that simple? What are the roadblocks to Christian friendship that result in discipleship?
Long articles and books have been written on this topic, and I do not intend to treat these questions exhaustively. But I do think there’s one important observation to make before any other solutions can be offered. We cannot easily point one another to Jesus, love and know one another, confess to and ask forgiveness of one another, comfort and care for one another, rejoice and mourn with and pray for one another, if we never see one another.
We need to see one another.
At CrossPointe Coast, we have regular rhythms of seeing one another and pointing one another to Jesus. We all participate together in Celebration Service, gather in Community Groups, and a growing number of us meet for intentional discipleship in Triads. Please continue (or begin!) to grow deep in these rhythms of togetherness! Those three environments form the core of our life together! And if you would like to be together more frequently for fellowship, conversation, and prayer, consider joining us this year as we offer space for us as women to be together in order to point one another to Jesus.
We love you, sisters!
